The longest Stage of the 2015 Absa Cape Epic proved to be a tough test for Team Meerendal as they made the journey of 128km and 2300m climbing from Elgin to Worcester on a scorching day in the Karoo.
It was a good day for Esther Süss and Alice Pirard of “Team Meerendal Wheeler” who finished 3rd in the Women’s Category and earned themselves a spot on the podium. They are 3rd on the overall standings in the Women’s Category. Milena Landtwing and Hielke Elferink of “Team Meerendal Wheeler Cannondale” finished 7th and are 5th overall.
Bärti Bucher and Heinz Zörweg of Team Meerendal BiXS KTM have a firm grip on the Grand Masters title after yet another Stage win.
Jochen Kaess and Daniel Geismayr of Meerendal Centurion Vaude finished 8th in the Mens Category and currently lie 6th overall.
Apart from Matthias Pfrommer who wasn’t feeling well there were no further casualties. Laura Turpijn and Konny Looser who continued their Absa Cape Epic alone as Outcast riders without their partners completed the Stage as well along with Hermann Pernsteiner.
Stage 4 will be raced in and around the Worcester area with a distance of 111km and 2000m of climbing.
